Interim professionals in life sciences: join the Axeleon network

Life sciences · Netherlands, on-site and hybrid · From a few days a month to five days a week · Typically 3 to 12 months

A standing, open invitation for freelance and interim professionals in Dutch life sciences: quality, QP and RP, pharmacists, QC, validation and CSV, regulatory, engineering, operations and manufacturing leadership, R&D and CMC. Register once. Russell calls only when he has a real assignment that fits.

What this is

Not a single vacancy but the front door to all of them. Most interim assignments Axeleon fills are not advertised: a client calls because an inspection is three weeks away, a QP is going on leave, a validation programme has slipped, or a site head has left and the plant needs someone on Monday. The client wants the first relevant profiles within two working days. We fill those from a market map of freelance and interim professionals in the Netherlands that has been maintained since 2010. This listing is how you get on it.

One rule, so you know what you are signing up for: registering puts you on the map, not on a mailing list. Russell calls when he has a real assignment that fits your profile, and otherwise leaves you alone.

Who we are looking for

Freelance and interim professionals working in and around GMP-regulated life sciences in the Netherlands, at specialist, manager and leadership level:

  • Quality: QA managers, heads of quality and QA directors on an interim basis; QA officers and specialists for supplier, batch-release and documentation work; auditors, inspection-readiness leads, CAPA and deviation remediation specialists.
  • Qualified Persons, Responsible Persons and pharmacists: QPs eligible for registration in the Netherlands, RPs for wholesale licences, and Gevestigd Apothekers for pharmacy operations, including fractional and cover arrangements.
  • QC and laboratory: QC managers and analysts, method validation and transfer, stability, microbiology, and lab leads for start-ups and expansions.
  • Validation, qualification and CSV: process, cleaning and equipment validation; CQV and C&Q leads; computer system validation, GAMP 5, data integrity, MES, LIMS and ERP validation.
  • Regulatory affairs: RA project managers, submission and lifecycle specialists, and people who can build a regulatory function for a scale-up.
  • Engineering, operations and manufacturing: interim site heads, production and operations managers, project and tech-transfer leads, engineering and maintenance managers, supply chain and MSAT.
  • R&D and CMC: CMC leads, process development, and technical leadership between the lab and the plant.

Environments that count: sterile and aseptic, biologics and ATMP, solid dose, API and CDMO sites, medical devices under MDR, pharmacies and wholesalers under IGJ supervision, and clinical-stage companies building a GMP function for the first time.

How registration works

Register below with a LinkedIn link or a CV. Russell reads it himself and gets in touch when an assignment fits, or if he wants to discuss your profile. A short call follows, so the market map records what a brief cannot: what you will and will not take on, your travel radius, your notice, your hourly rate expectations, and what you want the next assignment to do for you. You are never put forward for anything without a conversation first.

When an assignment matches, you hear about it before it is listed anywhere, and you get the whole picture: the site, the reason the gap exists, who you report to, and what the client considers success at the end.

Contracting

Every interim placement is contracted with the Wet DBA requirements built in: assignment-based scope, your own means and methods, no disguised employment. Contracts are between your company and Axeleon, with terms set out before you start and payment terms you can plan around. If you have questions about how a specific assignment is structured, ask before you say yes; Russell would rather lose a placement than put a freelancer into a contract that does not hold.

Practical

Availability can be immediate or months away; both are useful. Part-time and fractional arrangements are increasingly common, especially for QP, RP and QA leadership roles. Register even if you are mid-assignment: the map is only useful when it is current.
