Business Development & Licensing Manager (in-licensing, generics)

Pharma · North Holland · 32-40 hours a week · Permanent

Posted 15 October 2026

Lead in-licensing for a growing pharmaceutical company with generics and medical devices: find the products, build the business case, negotiate the deal and see it through to the first commercial order.

The company

A pharmaceutical company with its own portfolio of generic medicines and medical devices, on a clear growth course. Short lines, an informal culture and room to shape your own role. Office in North Holland.

The role

You lead in-licensing for the Dutch market. You spot which generics and medical devices are worth bringing in, turn them into a business case, find and win the right supplier, negotiate the licence and supply deal, and stay involved until the first product is delivered and released. You set the standard for how the team scans the market, working with a small Business Development team of three and reporting to the Manager Business Development.

What you do

  • Screen the international market, suppliers and developers for products that fit the portfolio and the Dutch market
  • Build market and product analyses and business cases (price, volume, positioning, NPV)
  • Build and keep relationships with existing partners and approach new ones
  • Negotiate in-licensing and supply agreements together with Legal and Purchase & Supply
  • Hand over signed deals and steer the launch with QA, Regulatory, Logistics, Communication and Commercial through to the first commercial order
  • Report on the pipeline and advise on forecasting, pricing and positioning

What you bring

  • Several years in in-licensing, business development or strategic partnerships in pharma, generics, OTC, medical devices or healthcare in the Netherlands
  • Deals you negotiated and closed yourself, from first screening to signature
  • Feel for both the commercial side and the regulatory and legal side of medicines
  • A higher education (HBO/WO) in life sciences, pharmacy, health sciences, law, business or similar, or equivalent experience
  • Fluent Dutch and good English

What you get

A permanent role with real ownership, a growing portfolio, a team that wants an experienced lead to learn from, development budget and online learning, travel allowance, a self-managed pension contribution and generous leave with the option to buy more. Salary on request; we discuss it openly in the first call.
